Planning Consent for first ever UK Passiv House
back to news>>
Planning Consent has been granted by West Berkshire District Council for a Passiv house in Upper Basildon near Reading. ABA&E has been acting for the developer Olive Green Group. OGG, based in Reading, is backed by Brook Henderson (BH), a diversified private group with substantial net assets and interests in a range of businesses including renewable energy generation, property development and managed asset services. The Group also has a long-term commitment to the provision of out-of-school educational facilities for disadvantaged young people in Reading, through CRED, a joint venture with Reading Borough Council. BH and OGB believe that it is vital that we engage now with zero-carbon housing. OGG is actively exploring, through a series of test sites, a range of appropriate methodologies for achieving this. Projects range from high-density inner-city apartments to single, high-quality rural eco-homes. In the UK, our homes are responsible for nearly 30% of the nation's total carbon emissions per year, mainly in heating, lighting and other energy consumption. Today's average house emits roughly 6 tonnes of CO2 per year, and houses built to the latest Government guidelines can still emit up to 4.6 tonnes.
